We offer adults their choice of two Sunday School classes. One class concentrates on an individual book of the Bible, teaching the history and truths within the entire book. The other class explores great themes of the faith. These classes meet from 9:45 to 10:30 each Sunday.
We also have Monday morning classes, one for men and one for women. These weekly Bible study groups foster friendships and encourage one another in faith, prayer and service. Subjects vary from a book of the Bible to books written by theologians or biblical scholars, to DVDs by well-known speakers.
Another opportunity for learning and fellowship is our Wednesday night study of the Psalms, which features a delicious meal.
On the first Sunday of every month we enjoy the privilege of participating in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, which we conclude by sharing a covered dish meal together at the church.
We are a caring church, so our deacons maintain and control a diaconate fund which is used to help church members and others from the community who may have personal needs, such as food, support with home upkeep or temporary housing. The church women support Samaritan’s Purse Operation and Christmas Child Shoebox. Our elders maintain the spiritual integrity of the church.
Oconee Church supports several missionaries around the world as they bring the gospel to others. We contribute to and pray for missions in France, Spain, Pakistan, Poland, Lithuania, and Germany. Many of those missionaries work with Muslim populations. In addition we support Christian education, including Erskine College and Seminary, and nursing students in Pakistan.
We also support local charities such as Ripple of One, Salvation Army, Our Daily Bread, Our Daily Rest, Golden Harvest Food Bank, Foothills Pregnancy Center, Drive to Work Program and a program to provide backpacks to local school students.
The women of our church engage in critically important ministry areas, and constitute a vital aspect of our church. The weekly Bible study group fosters friendships and encourages one another in faith, prayer and service. All the activities of the women further these goals.
